Diwali is one of India’s most popular Hindu festivals. Every house is decked out in flamboyant colors, lights, and candles. It’s a family festival. During this festival, Hindus pay homage to the goddess Laxmi.
Diwali in Maharashtra is an occasion for unique celebrations. Join in the celebrations on this 15-day tour.
We’ll meet in Mumbai. We’ll then head for Kolhapur. We’ll make a stopover in Wai to admire some ancient temples. Kolhapur is home to Maharashtra’s most revered Laxmi temple. You’ll witness the religious fervor expressed here. It’s also an opportunity to visit this ancient Marathi capital. You’ll marvel at the beauty of these palaces. Next, you’ll discover a former princely state during British colonization, Palthan. On the way to Ahmednagar, the capital of the Nizam, you’ll discover the Jejuri temple. In this lively temple, you’ll witness blessings with turmeric, India’s queen spice. Finally, we will arrive in Aurangabad. This is where the Diwali celebrations begin. In Ambad, for the candle-lighting ceremony. The spectacle of thousands of lit candles will make you dream. Then to the village of Bokud Jalgaon for a lively and colorful celebration. You can dance with the villagers and share this moment of joy. Then you’ll attend a traditional show in the village of Shendurwada. To round off this tour, you’ll visit the two UNESCO-listed sites, the Ellora and Ajanta caves.

Day 13: Visit Vetavadi fort and Anwar temple. In the evening, we spend the night in a small village to discover the local way of life.
Day 14: Visit to the Ajanta caves. These caves are world-famous for their cave paintings.
Day 15: Visit Daultabad Fort, once the capital of the Delhi Sultanate, and Khuldabad, the 14th-century capital of Sufism. We finish with a visit to the 17th-century capital of India, Aurangabad.

- Up to one week before departure, the tour will be fully refunded.
- From 7 days before departure, the trip will be refunded in full, less booking fees (approx. 80 euros).
- In the event of cancellation :
- 60 days before departure: 100% refund
- between 60 and 30 days before departure: 50% of the price refunded
- between 30 and 15 days before departure: 25% of price refunded
- no refund will be made for cancellations made two weeks before departure.
