Charthana: a spiritual, historical and cultural tour

Charthana, the village with many interests.

Charthana is a small village with less than 8000 people. It is located 100 kilometers away from Aurangabad.

Since December 2018, we have been working with the villagers to make the village a tourist spot. And the village has a lot to offer.

First, the village had 360 temples in the 12th century. Even if many have disappeared or were buried, there are still a few. Each temple has interesting architectural, cultural and religious particularity.

We invite you to discover the life of a village in Maharashtra. To complete the experience, you will share the meal with a local family in pure Indian tradition. If you are not used to it, you will be taught to eat with your hands.

Finally, you will discover an art craft that is lost, that is wooden house. You can admire the sculptures and the organization of these old houses which often give way to soulless brick houses.

This tour is designed to show you a maximum of ancient India as well as to promote exchanges with the local people. This will make your tour memorable.

The price of this tour is 3115 rupees (42 euros, 45 dollars approximately) per person.

This rate is established on the basis of a standard vehicle for two people.

• We will start the day at the Bawdi. We’ll explain the importance of this structure.
• We will take you to several temples which each have their own particularity, either in its structure, or in its history or in the representation of the deities
• We will have lunch with the locals
• We will then cross the fields to visit a last excavated temple.
• We will take the opportunity to see the work of the farmers.
• Back in the village, we will go to wooden houses to discover the ancient art of living.
