Even if the history of the region begins very early, especially with the empire of Satvahana and their capital Paithan, the 15th century past got conflicted with the history of India.
The Daultabad fort originally known as Devgiri, capital of the Yadava Empire, was invaded by the Delhi sultans. Muhammad bin Tulguq was so impressed by the fort, so he decided to transfer his capital from Delhi to Daultabad. He brought the Sufi saints along with him who were in Delhi. They decided to settle nearby in a village which became a new Sufi capital, Khuldabad. It became the capital of Sufism in India in the 14th century.

In the 17th century, it was the Mughal Empire that made the region the center of India. Aurangzeb made Aurangabad his empire’s capital. It was then the most powerful in Asia and represented 25% of world GDP.

We will start the day in small village, Khultabad which was the spiritual capital of Sufism in India in the 14th century. We will explore the two greatest historical figures in the region, Malik Ambar and Aurangzeb by visiting their tombs. We will also see one of the most peaceful gardens in the region, the Bani Begum garden.

We will then go to Daultabad which was the capital of the Sultanate of Delhi in the 14th century. We will see the different parts of the fort.

We will end up in Aurangabad which was the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 17th century under Aurangzeb. To understand the importance of the city, we will see different gates of the city as well as the Bibi ka Maqbara, the most beautiful example of Mughal architecture in the region
